Resolutions

Its 23:41 and I'm typing against a deadline so I can claim at least one day against my New Year's Resolution to begin keeping a blog. This doesn't bode well.

I have 3 resolutions for the year, all of which I will undoubtedly fail to live up to.

1. Daily Blog Post

Regardless of topic, irrespective of length, I would like to start outputting daily blog posts. I'm a lurker, a consumer of content, an armchair observer. I often toy with the idea of starting a blog but disuade myself because I don't have a strategy planned out or a single topic I want to cover.

To hell with that. This will likely be a random collection of musings, incoherently strung together and badly edited and never proof read. It doesn't matter, nobody's perfect.

2. Weekly London Activity

I've lived in the UK for over 6 years now and in London for almost 5. It's a great city but I'm usually so consumed with the endless cycle of work-eat-sleep-work that I see none of it. I don't want to live here forever, but whilst I'm here I should really make better use of what is one of the greatest cities on earth.

Theatres, museums, parks, walks, cycles, shopping, eating, if it's something I haven't done before and London based, then it is fair game.

52 weeks, 52 activities. How hard can it be?

3. Get Fit

It's a cliche and it's vague and I dont care. 2013 is the year I get fit, that means stronger, more aerobic, lose fat, gain muscle. No hocus pocus or lentil smoothie diets. Just plain ol' healthier eating combined with regular exercise. Specifically that will be no soft drinks, 3 gym sessions per week and joining the local kayak club. Excited about the last one as it is about 10 years since I raced flat water K1 canoes in Ireland.

And that's it. Nothing that isn't achievable  although I know the odds of succeeding in even one of the resolutions, is firmly stacked against me.
